The North Star Saddle Club

NSGRA would like to announce the official formation of the North Star Saddle Club (NSSC) under the overall direction and sponsorship of the NSGRA. Membership to the saddle club is open to all members in good standing of the NSGRA. The NSGRA asks that you complete an additional saddle club membership application, but for at least the first year there will be no additional membership dues required.

Returning members of NSGRA Todd Parent and his partner Zane Reynolds have offered to provide organization and leadership of the saddle club for this year. Todd and Zane have extensive experience with owning horses at their home in Nowthen, MN and showing horses. The NSSC is also a registered saddle club with the Western Saddle Clubs Association (WSCA).

The NSSC is being formed to help our members promote the love of the horse and an avenue for camaraderie as well as sharing in the excitement of preparing your horse for fun competitions in showing, roping, cutting, reining, and game events. In addition we are hoping this will also help our membership to prepare as a competitor in the 2012 NSGRA Rodeo.

Monthly meetings, practice events, WSCA show participation and trail rides are being planned. All upcoming activities will be posted in the Saddle Club section of the NSGRA website (www.nsgra.org). As a member of NSSC under WSCA, all events participated in by our members at WSCA sanctioned shows will count towards qualifying to compete in the WSCA Championship Show that is held in September each year at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds Coliseum. All rider disciplines are welcome including driving.

A note from the President of NSSC:

Happy August to everyone and the end of August is Minnesota State Fair and farewell to summer, although this year I at least will welcome the end of summer with as hot as it has been. The hot weather is tough on all the four legged critters not to mention the two legged feather ones too.

Events continue around the saddle club at least for Zane and I, we are busy getting the NSSC name out there. It would sure be nice to have more members join in the activities. Zane and I participated in the Sand Creek Riders WSCA show on July 3rd and the Fox Hollow Saddle Club WSCA show on July 4th.

Zane and our Fjord horse Jen were the big winners for NSSC placing first in open driving at both shows. We were all set to participate in the Sherburne County Fair Parade on July 15th but had to call it off due to the inclement weather.

The next couple of months will be very busy from a Saddle Club perspective. The weekend of July 30th & 31st we will be at the Minnesota Paint Horse Association Show in Winona , MN . On August 20th we will be at the Silver Buckle Saddle Club Show in Plymouth , MN . The next weekend on August 27th we will be at the Bootjack Saddle Club Show at the Anoka County Fair Grounds in Anoka , MN .

Based on our participation at the Horse Expo this past spring Zane and I have been asked to bring two of our horses to the Minnesota State Fair to present at the Minnesota Horse Council exhibit in the main isle of the Horse Barn. We will have Jen (Norwegian Fjord) and Luna (Tobiano Paint) at the fair September 4th and 5th. Zane and I will also be there representing everything we do that revolves around our horses. This will include the NSGRA, NSSC, Parey Farm, MPHA, and the Minnesota Horse Expo. If you happen to be at the fair either day please stop by and introduce yourself as I am sure there are many of you that we have not had the opportunity to meet yet. Our next scheduled event at this point will be the WSCA Championship Show where Zane and Jen will be competing in Open Driving representing NSSC. The driving class is at 7:00am on September 22nd.

Please feel free to check out our website  www.pareyfarm.com for pictures from the 2011 Pride parade. Check out the video page as Zane did a very nice job pulling all the pictures together to music.

Happy Trails to All,

Todd Parent & Zane Reynolds
